    I have problems with the absolutely most beautiful mahogany obsidian, it has like a golden iridescence to it, but it gets soft and super step fracturey and crushes bad if you get even slightly too greedy in the wrong direction it like, delaminates, kind of.

    • @EDBO23
      @EDBO23 4 дня назад

      If you get crushing then make stouter platforms and slow the bopper speed. Don't use heavy copper bopper.

    I HATE FAKE!!!!! In all my travels people tell me they hit a rock with another rock, antlers, whatever. I see fake artifacts everywhere I go. I HATE THEM. ALL OF THEM. The Indians did not flake. If you hold a 500 year old artifact in your hand you will immediately know the difference between flaked and non flaked tooling. The fake is obvious

    My entire life, my father would sit and make arrowheads and speartips. It was his hobby rather than whittling. He'd sit around a campfire, outside in the driveway, or in the basement making them. He was an avid rockhound covering western America from Canada to Mexico. As he was looking for new treasures, he would scatter the arrowhead, hoping that someday someone would happen upon them and find their own treasure. Someday, someone in eastern Oregon will find or already has found a beautiful arrowhead made out of Oregon fire opal, and someone in Canada on the Frazier River will find an 8" spear tip made of jade. His only tools were a piece of leather and a small piece of a broom handle with a piece of 3/8" copper sticking out the end.

    After watching him nap with these big boppers, I was very impressed with the size of the flakes and reduction process that you do. It’s amazing. I am definitely gonna try and make some of these tools and I appreciate you showing us how to do it and what you use Because I think it will be beneficial to my napping abilities. Looking forward to trying them after doing so, I will get back with you and let you know what I think. Thank you again for sharing. God bless you!

    Like watching an olypian diver casually practicng quadruple 900 spin backflips off the 60' deck. "So im just gonna tiptoe and spin a bit" ....lol. Love watching a master at his craft, certainly a humbling experience, but i love it nonetheless. Meanwhile, ive been banging rocks off and on for more years than i care to recount and evvvveeeerrrryyy once in a while i may get lucky and end up with something that resembles a point, long as you squint when you look at it lol!

    I can get one to the biscuit stage and i can peel thin flakes with a bopper but i seem to either not hit hard enough to run a long flake or hit too hard and make an overshot. And then theres times i do it right. I probably dont knap as much as much and obsessivley as i did when i first started. Nice job there on that one.
